Hey Guys,

I have a studio with a split 16 channel element console , due to lack of desk space I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to emulate the Mic Control Headphone Selector Panel through Pathfinder (Panel Desinger) so two guests can have headphone volume/selection and mic control through a mini touch screen.
Is it possible to control an output volume of a node through pathfinder, much like the headphone opitcal pot would on the headphone selector?

Cheers

At the moment Pathfinder can only control microphone gain through the meters in the client, and not through stack events or panel designer - yet. Stay tuned though because it may be coming soon. However, what you could do (if you have Pathfinder Pro), would be to run it through a pair of VMIX faders. Then use the new VMIXControl which provides on-screen faders. As an Administrator, you can select the couple of faders you want the users to use, and that is all they would see. Would that do the job for you?

Thanks Dan
I think this will work until version with node gain control is available. However, how do i limit what faders the users can see in the VmixControl?

cmac,
Look around page 140 in the new manual

http://axiaaudio.com/manuals/files/PathFinderPCHelp_08-2008.pdf

You will find a section about user names and passwords in the VMIXControl section. The VMIXControl application authenticates with PathfinderPCServer. So in PathfinderPCServer under the File menu, open the User database. Add a user and select general user instead of Administrative. There is probably already a default Admin user (Username Admin, Password Admin). When you launch the VMIXControl application, click the edit button and enter the Admin user name and password if asked. Then use the checkboxes next to the VMXI groups and faders to unselect any faders you do not want seen. Then change the username and password stored in the VMIXControl configuration to be the general user you created.

The username and password you enter into the VMIXControl configuration is what the application will run under and use to authenticate with Pathfinder Server. If this is a general user, then they will not have the rights to change the fader access you have programmed into this copy of the application using the Admin account. When a user logged in with general user rights tries to click the edit button to edit the VMIXControl configuration, it will ask for an Admin user account. If one is not provided, only minimal things will be able to be changed by that user.

In this way you can select which VMIX faders the user should be able to access, and then lock that configuration down.
